Abstract

This study aims to determine of morning activity activities, the characters building that are attempting toemerge from morning activity activities, and the school's evaluation of morning activity activities.at SMPMuhammadiyah Plus Salatiga. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using participantobservation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The research subjectsconsisted of guidance and counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, morning activity coordinators, andstudents actively involved in the program. Data were analyzed descriptively to understand the process,meaning, and impact of morning activity on students’ character development. The results show that themorning activity comprising (1) Qur’an recitation, (2) morning assembly, (3) congregational dhuha prayer,and (4) the Sapa Segar session significantly contributes to building positive habits, improving punctuality,and strengthening students’ spiritual awareness. Guidance counselors play an active role as designers andfacilitators through a developmental guidance approach and apply religious educational consequences suchas the dhuha prayer for latecomers. Empirically, the program reduced student tardiness by 35% andincreased adherence to school rules by 90%. The novelty of this study lies in integrating Social LearningTheory and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) within a religious-based counseling framework, resulting in aholistic and contextual model for character formation and student development in Islamic schools. Inconclusion, morning activity is effective in fostering students’ disciplinary behavior and spiritual awareness.
