This study aims to analyze the philosophical model of virtual learning from the perspective of educational reconstructionism and to develop a conceptual framework that can serve as a foundation for transformative virtual learning in the digital era. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining peer-reviewed articles published between 2021 and 2026. The literature search was conducted across major academic databases using keywords related to virtual learning, educational reconstructionism, digital pedagogy, critical pedagogy, and the Community of Inquiry. The selected studies were screened using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzed through thematic synthesis to identify philosophical perspectives, pedagogical frameworks, and practical implications for virtual learning. The findings reveal that reconstructionist-oriented virtual learning is built upon five fundamental principles: critical dialogue, authentic participation, social knowledge construction, real-world relevance, and transformative reflection. Furthermore, four major pedagogical frameworks were identified as being closely aligned with reconstructionist philosophy, namely the Community of Inquiry (CoI), Socio-Constructivist Digital Pedagogy, Critical Digital Pedagogy, and ethical-oriented Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). The review also highlights several implementation challenges, including the digital divide, limited digital competencies among educators, and ethical concerns regarding the integration of artificial intelligence into virtual learning environments. This study concludes that educational reconstructionism provides a robust philosophical foundation for designing virtual learning environments that are humanistic, collaborative, inclusive, and socially transformative. The proposed conceptual framework offers theoretical and practical guidance for educators, instructional designers, and policymakers in developing sustainable and meaningful virtual learning ecosystems in higher education.
